Emilia Assenza: Senior Team Leader, Global Regulatory Compliance Team, Compliance & Risks

Emilia is a Senior Regulatory Compliance Specialist with over 7 years of experience in the legal compliance sector.

She joined Compliance & Risks in 2017 and is now a Senior Team Leader. As a senior regulatory compliance specialist, she is keen to keep clients up to date on global regulatory developments, with a particular focus on her areas of expertise which include consumer protection, textiles, data protection as well as industrial machinery.

Emilia graduated cum laude with a Master’s Degree in Law at the University of Catania, Italy, and holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Professions. She has worked for several legal offices in Italy where she has gained extensive experience in private practice.

Fernanda Paro: Regulatory Compliance Specialist, Compliance & Risks

Fernanda is a Regulatory Compliance Specialist with the Global Regulatory Compliance team, based in Barcelona. She monitors regulatory updates across North, Central, and South America, with deep expertise in Medical Device legislation.

As the project lead for a global initiative spanning multiple jurisdictions, Fernanda regularly delivers in-depth analysis on complex legal and compliance queries related to medical devices.

She holds a postgraduate degree in Constitutional Law and a Master’s in International Trade Law, specializing in MedTech compliance with a regulatory focus on Cybersecurity and Data Protection. A qualified lawyer in both Brazil and Portugal, Fernanda is fluent in Portuguese, English, and Spanish, currently learning French, and proficient in Italian.

Sarah-Jane Dobson, Partner, Global Head of Product Liability, Safety and Compliance, Ashurst

Sarah-Jane is a partner in Ashurst. She is an international products lawyer, acting on regulatory, litigious, and policy matters across the full product life cycle in respect of product safety, compliance, and product liability issues.

Her practice is focused on multi-jurisdictional matters for corporate clients across a range of sectors, including consumer goods, cosmetics, chemicals, food and beverages, life sciences, industrial and regulatory compliance, and global product recalls.

Her product liability work includes managing large portfolios of international product liability claims, advising on product safety, inquests, public inquiries, judicial reviews, and anti-competitive practices and advertising. Her policy work has focused on assisting clients responding to legislative change, including Brexit, change of regimes (medical devices), and new legislation (collective redress and product sustainability. She has advised clients in respect of submissions to lawmakers regarding a proposed change.

Miran Bahra, Associate Solicitor, Product Liability, Safety and Compliance, Ashurst

Miran is an Associate within the Dispute Resolution team at Ashurst LLP, specializing in Product Litigation and Regulatory Risk.

Her work spans several sectors including automotive, cosmetics, consumer goods, industrial, and life sciences. She has experience in dealing with matters with a multi-jurisdictional element across the full product lifecycle including product launches, ongoing regulatory compliance, due diligence, advertising and marketing, product recalls, and litigation, including group and mass tort claims. Miran has a particular interest in ESG and DE&I.

Mattia Armelli is the Commercial Director at Analytical Group, an Italian company specialized in testing, certification, and sustainability across multiple industries — from fashion and luxury to electromechanical sectors.

Analytical supports brands and manufacturers in developing technical and environmental compliance systems tailored to international markets.
Mattia Armelli is actively involved in training activities, delivering speeches, workshops, and operational sessions to promote a culture of concrete, measurable, and business-integrated sustainability. His approach combines strategic vision with attention to regulatory detail, aiming to turn compliance obligations into growth opportunities.

Loris Bovo, Partner Dispute Resolution, Ashurst

Loris Bovo is well known for his wide experience in finance, insolvency, and commercial litigation, as well as in domestic and international arbitration. He has significant experience in corporate disputes, both in ordinary and urgent proceedings, including directors’ duties and violation of representation and warranties in the context of M&A transactions, in IP and data protection litigation.

Loris also developed a specific know-how in ESG litigation, having been invited as a speaker in several seminars and induction programs on this topic, for clients and institutions.

Having gained over 20 years of experience as a litigator, Loris always aims to assist clients in achieving feasible and practical outcomes to their disputes, also in the context of crisis management.
