Student Program Insights: Niamh Connolly – Researcher

I joined Compliance and Risks as a student under their student placement program in 2021. I study Law and Politics in the University of Limerick and during my 8-month placement I worked as a student researcher for the Global Regulatory Compliance Team (GRCT).

The student placement program had a very positive impact on me both professionally and personally. The wonderful work environment I experienced during my placement influenced my decision to return and work part-time with the company during my final year of university.

What Was Involved in My Role?

I received a hands-on experience as a student researcher with Compliance & Risks. My main responsibilities included analyzing and monitoring new global regulations in several interesting areas such as medical devices, climate change and product safety. I was also involved in researching products for the team and our clients.

My work with as a Student Researcher further developed my research and teamwork skills, my attention to detail, and ability to manage my workload. Teamwork is highly valued here, and I am grateful that I had an opportunity to observe and fully participate in a successfully functioning team environment.

What are My Thoughts on Compliance & Risks?

My colleagues at Compliance & Risks are some of the most welcoming and helpful people I have ever worked with. GRCT is a diverse team full of deeply wise and experienced members, and this had an influential impact on me. I learned so much here, and could not recommend it enough as a working environment.

I am very thankful to the GRCT and beyond for making the student placement program such a positive and enlightening experience for me.
