I have a particular interest in regulatory work in the age of AI. My career has moved from community fieldwork in Vietnam into research on development and SDG-related terminology, then into industry. My experience in responsible AI, as well as my research in specialist language and language technology become highly relevant in AI-supported workflows and AI-amplified compliance.
Nguyen’s Biography
Nguyen Nguyen is a Regulatory Compliance Specialist at Adherent. He keeps customers up to date on regulatory developments in Artificial Intelligence, as well as ESG Reporting and Supply Chain Due Diligence. As part of his work, Nguyen identifies emerging regulations and helps businesses in understanding their practical implications.
Before moving to Ireland in 2018, Nguyen had spent more than 15 years in international development in Vietnam. He then pursued a PhD in Translation Studies at Dublin City University (completed in 2023), which took his work from field practice into research on how development concepts and terminology are understood and used in policy and practice. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Development Studies from Victoria University of Wellington.
His latest work in language technology, digital content and responsible AI led into regulatory compliance and informed his move into the field.
Together with his native Vietnamese, Nguyen is fluent in English.

Passions & Perspectives
I tend to notice where written rules become hard to use in practice. That comes from time spent in development projects and community interpreting work, where there was little room to adapt what was written. I have since gravitated towards work where written material needs to function reliably beyond its original context.

- Long-term work with terminology in policy and development settings, where plain language mattered because the same terms were used differently across documents
- Work in development projects where SDG and ESG frameworks set the basis for planning, reporting and evaluation
- Responsible AI research focused on how regulatory concepts are defined in frameworks such as the EU AI Act, the DSA and the GDPR, and how those concepts are reused in organisational and AI-related work
- Built tone-of-voice databases to train brand-alignment AI agents, and designed prompting-based content workflows shaped by fairness and compliance constraints.
