Background

Adherent (formerly Compliance & Risks). A woman with glasses and a ponytail, wearing an orange sweater, works on multiple computer screens displaying code in a dark room.
Adherent (formerly Compliance & Risks). A UI card titled "Status" showing a circular chart with a warning icon. The chart segments represent "Relevant: 182," "Not Relevant: 231," and "Needs more info 400," with the latter highlighted. A "The Challenge" tag is in the top right.

The Challenge

  • Regulatory compliance across the FoxGuard business is two-sided, as the company must support both computing and cybersecurity parts of the business. When the team started, it was mainly advised of compliance requirements by its larger vendor partners and customers.
  • FoxGuard would comply with these requirements in detail by working with the suppliers to produce relevant certification documents and ensure products were successfully deployed to their end destination.
  • The FoxGuard team recognized that in order to grow further they could not remain dependent on other companies to provide them with the regulatory requirements for their global customers. FoxGuard saw an opportunity to increase the value of their support to their customers.

The Solution

C2P is a compliance and market access software platform that provides reliable legislative information, insights, and actions, to help clients get products to market faster, while ensuring they are compliant with all relevant regulatory requirements. Foxguard implemented C2P from Compliance & Risks in 2014 as the platform for their product compliance.

  • C2P gave Foxguard visibility of all the regulations that they were already complying with, so rather than being told what the requirements were, now Barb could see and understand the details of what they needed to provide, and why
  • C2P supports FoxGuard’s product compliance function in ensuring that the company can always remain current and up to date on the many regulatory requirements, and dedicate its resources to continuing to grow the business
  • C2P is also used to monitor changes to regulations via alerts, and to understand new geographies ahead of market entry. The FoxGuard team uses the platform to understand the local regulations and prepare for upcoming changes.

The Benefits

  • The C2P platform has significantly increased FoxGuard’s understanding of the many regulations applicable to its global business. This understanding is visible in many aspects of how they do business, including added value to its customers, awareness and education for its suppliers, and deeper collaboration with its test houses as standards versions change and new requirements are put in place.
  • As a small team providing solutions for industrial, commercial and government entities, understanding the details of a new and nuanced regulation can be difficult, and attempts to communicate with local regulators were often problematic. FoxGuard employs the ‘Ask The Experts’ functionality with Compliance & Risks to save time and to ensure clarity of response and direction to its supply chain
  • “When we reach out to regulators directly we find that they frequently, at best, take a long time to reply”, Barb noted, “and often there are language challenges that result in long and fruitless communication strings. By using ‘Ask Our Experts’ we find that over 95% of the time the answers we need are provided in detail within a short couple of days.”
